For a new e-commerce B2C business, I'm considering offering a mixed of base salary + variable compensation for the role of Growth Hacker.
This person will basically be in charge of digital marketing and will have significant power and autonomy to dictate how the business grows.
The main issue for a variable compensation is that the business won't be profitable for ex, 1 year. If variable compensation is paid before this than it might be more effective to just pay a bigger base only salary.
How could variable compensation be structured to be interesting for the growth hacker while being also good for the company in terms of sustainability and growth while it is still on it's way to profitability?
