Well, the most awesome moment without a doubt was when I called all of our teammates together to announce that our company (Obtiva) had been acquired by Groupon.
Awesome: extremely impressive or daunting; inspiring great admiration, apprehension, or fear.
It was awesome in the full sense of the word. We had built a wonderful company that sat in the vanguard of our industry. Now it wasn't our company any longer--we had made the decision to be integrated into a behemoth. It changed everything for our clients and employees, a decision full of positives and potential negatives.
Although I had discussed the implications of the acquisition at length with my partners and management team over the months of negotiations, and feel to this day it was the right decision, it was daunting to announce the decision and see shadows of disappointment on the faces of some of our teammates, who truly loved Obtiva the way it was.
And, it was elating to see the excitement on the faces of others who saw, as I did, that the acquisition was an opportunity to contribute to an even bigger cause.
