What are the tools, mechanisms and lab set up procedures to run a cannabis testing lab?

With the eventual legalization of Cannabis and the absurd upfront legal and permit costs of getting into the Marijuana/Cannabis industry directly by way of a retail shop and/or medical dispensary.  Participating within the Marijuana/Cannabis industry by way of ancillary and indirect services like lab analysis (which is much sought after) seems a viable way to be apart of the Green "gold rush".

@Lee Ann Guertin, The legalities and the formalities as well as the operations are already set up in the North West (Oregon/Washington), the question is specific to the actual technicalities of a lab setup for Cannabis testing and its chemical analysis.

That is a great addition for everyone on your context. You probably then notice I wasn't wrong in my advice. You are still going to want to reference FDA guidelines for lab operations and for supporting facility and practice requirements. The type of "testing" or "analysis" you are looking to perform (human efficacy, manufacturing, etc.) will determine how a lab will need to be set up and operated as well as what types of quality assurance and regulation will be required. GCP, GMP and GLP may all apply. (GLP at a minimum.) That includes equipment handling as well as procurement of everything from specimens to spectrometers to glassware. I doubt that you have gotten far in the legal stages if you haven't established these things yet. A good bet would be to visit a molecular biology department and botany department. Stanford and Berkeley are great places for you to learn from right there in your area. Sent from my iPhone
