I want to create an online platform where we will provide course online, So what is the best way to build a website for that, should i use word press or any other service or should i build a website from ground up (i mean program).
1. Website should enable user to purchase using debit/credit card and paytm also.
2. Course count will be 2000+.
3. We have to manage the pricing of the courses and discount.
4. It should also have payment management system, like cut for the course creator and for the website owner.
Teachable is ok if it is low volume or you don't need heavy customization/integration. We are using it for a company to offer employee training and sometimes we have to onboard 50 or 100 employees onto the platform and it just flounders and we have lots of problems that require Teachable's tech/customer support to sort out.
Hi Paul, Thank you for reply, I am planning to create an platform where instructors can upload their courses and people can purchase it and learn,
The course language will be English and other than English also.
There are others issues with udemy and other famous platforms, including payments methods and certification which most of the people here don't appreciate.
Can you suggest me anything else.
Are you the course content creator or only the place to buy courses that other people create? In addition to Barry's suggestion that Udemy already exists, I would also direct you to Lynda.com. If you're suggesting thousands of courses, these two sites already do that very well. You face stiff competition with well-known brands and need a point of dramatic distinction. Perhaps courses in a language other than English? Regardless you have at least two working models for what you describe. Sign up for both and explore so you can learn how they are succeeding. I have a lot more questions about your business model, but they aren't meaningful until you find your niche.
You can go for few open source LMS tools. If online courses and lectures are required Moodle would be helpful.
Take a look at Udemy. They have everything you are looking for out of the box.
Take a look at WPLMS on Themeforest. You can use that to create the platform you're hoping to build.
I'm interested in hearing more about what you're creating. I currently use Teachable for my online course
@Vishal honestly speaking you are building a big project. If it's for learning purposes then go ahead build it from scratch or if you want to get the business up and running ASAP find some good wordpress plugins for an Learning Management System (LMS). A quick google search reveals LearnPress as the best in class for Wordpress. Take a look, experiment.
We had created one couple of years back, and for that we used YouTube's private video and normal WooCommerce to deliver pay per use content.
Now here's a thing before you begin you have to decide what role will you be playing in this venture of yours? Will you be the developer or the CEO? If you are the latter I would suggest you find someone who know's his/her stuff and creating the project with them. That way you will have a little room for focusing on content as well as the business side.

I've had long discussions with Thinkific and think you should look into them. They can private label their services for you, they handle all payments and you can also set a split between yourself and the instructor per course.
