You need to treat each candidate like a sales lead and approach them with a professional and organized approach. You can use many of the same sales materials to "Pitch" your candidates. Just make sure to keep your appointments, send follow-up emails, and to communicate quickly.
If your candidates don't feel special in the hiring process, the best ones will bow out as they become concerned their experience as an employee will mirror their experience in the hiring process.
