I'm trying to find a media file tools, something that  allows you to analyze the media (FLV, MP4) file structure, see what is wrong with the file if it does not play and so on. I'm looking into developing a tool like that myself if i can't find anything good and affordable on a market.
I want to know if anybody else has a need in application of this sort.

ffmpeg/ffprobe and mediainfo do exactly that. MP4Box will fix some files as well.
