I've been talking with my friend that uses Vocus and was thinking about just doing in-house PR.  Others have mentioned hiring a PR specialist or using an agency.  I'm lost..

There are literally hundreds of discussions on this topic already - good to search and read through those first

and a blog post from Pete Kazanjy http://members.founderdating.com/discuss/1150/The-PR-Launch-Checklist

Thanks for your responses Tim and Jessica.

I found Pete Kazanjy's blog post (above) and Gagan Biyani's Udemy blog post https://www.udemy.com/blog/udemy-launch/ to be most helpful.

(If anyone cares) We will probably stay away from Vocus and a PR firm and do the following:
1. Tighten up our new responsive site.
2. Hire a specialist.
3. Pitch on our more important newsworthy events.

I'll keep this thread updated with our progress.
