What survey data/stats do top investors love the most?

I'm doing a market survey within my personal network of potential clients prior to launch. Does anyone have a list of suggestions regarding surveying they encourage startups to use?
You don’t need thousands of dollars to acquire new customers and move them through the funnel. In this course, you’ll learn lean marketing strategies that work with budgets as small as $20, giving you the tools to optimize your budget, test and adjust campaigns, and increase ROI.

Dear Christopher,

I think this may help in a strange way. I've raised ~$3 billion, which is hundreds of pitches and presentations. Often in discussions in FD I find that I do not understand what people are asking for in their requests. It took me at least three decades to understand Albert Einstein's wisdom: "If you can't explain it to a six year old, you don't understand it yourself." Most investors are the same as I because they see such a wide variety of books (PPMs) but then will nod politely like foreign businesspersons and then say no by letter. I encourage you to do two things 1) tighten your request in the mist simple terms possible - smallest words possible; and 2) work 25 times harder than you think you need to alone in search engines. The world will open up.

I'll do the best I can to help. David

Dear David,

Thank you for the feedback...1) Thank you for reminding me... Yet as for 2)... I had definitely convoluted things, for you to have had come to the conclusion I needed a lesson in search engines... My Bad... but it made me smile. :)

At the strategic level David's advice is excellent.  At the tactical level the most productive thing you can do it validate that customers want to buy your product, the price they're willing to pay, the channel they expect to purchase through (direct or indirect), the lead time likely required to go from lead to purchase and the frequency with which they will repeat purchase if applicable.

If you capture this information from your target market(s) and use to form the foundation of your revenue mode/P&L from the "bottoms up" so investor will under the cost of customer acquisition and the likely take up rate from that investment in customer acquisition you will get more buy in to your business model.   It's great to have a breakthrough technology or business model but at the end of the day investors want to know how they'll make a return on their investment...show them!
