I am in the process of having a BETA release of our Android & iOS app. We are in the process of building our launch strategy.

What ways have you used to spread the word and increase users/downloads besides the pay per download methods Facebook and Google offers?

Please share creative approaches to creating a movement, making it viral and what resources/ tactics were used.

Thank you!

When you are doing a beta launch and trying to drive downloads, you have to focus on three areas: identify your early adopters, identify the right messaging to get them to download, and make sure the landing page is enticing. You have to focus in on narrowing down the initial groups through testing via facebook ads and seeing response rates. Alot of lean startup here, build measure learn. Figure out what works and why. Know what drives your customer to want to use your product and market towards that side. Example is if your email productivity app, look at peoples who interest on facebook is inbox zero... Be specific enough to learn.

I know this isn't techniques, but with a beta release you have to market towards people who are willing to take a leap of faith with your product, go into the unknown and more than anything they want to go and try this out!

Hi there, before your launching your app, you should make your app title, icon, description, screenshots and video attractive, which can grasp the eyes of potential users.

Propagandize your app through Press Release is a good way before launching it. Just as Entrepreneur Neil Patel says: "Press is the best way to kick start your startup, and the best way to get it is to manually reach out to journalists."Taking advantage of several news media to publish your story about how you developed the app and what your users can gain from your app.It will boost your popularity and raise awareness, especially if you’re conveyed by popular media.

You can also apply for adwards. There are tons of organizations that give prizes to new, innovative applications for their functionality, design, and so on. It can give you tons of press, exposure, reviews and plenty of downloads, I would highly suggest you take advantage of it. hese are some of the most famous app awards sites:

  • Appy Awards
  • Best App Ever Awards
  • Apple Design Awards
  • Appsters Awards
  • The Webby Awards
  • Best Mobile App Awards
  • OZApp

After you launched it, you can buy some positive reviews 3 days later. Because people are very easily influenced by the perceptions of others and will make a quick decision based on positive reviews, and 80% users have changed their minds about a downloading an app based solely on the negative reviews they read. What's more, a survey shows that about 95% users will take the reviews as an important reference factor, especially for a new app. Then buy positive reviews is a great way to increase the download rates.

Hope these methods are useful to you.

Hi friends, before you launch your app in the app store, you can do app store optimization. This can help your app more visibility in the app store, and then gain more app downloads. Here are some tips about how to do it.

1. Create a simple but attractive app title

A good app title can not only help to attract users attention, it can gain market in ASO. Please pay attention that do not only put words together, also make the statement smoothly, and put the core keywords in the subtitle to help increase the search result.

2. Choose right keywords

This is the most important element, you could stand in the users' perspective, think what do they input when they search an app. And also find some hot words, analyze your competitors' hot words, and then build your own hot word bank. You do not need to use comma to separate the hot words, that is a waste character behavior.

3. Get more app downloads

Download will influence you app ranking, if the app's download is very few, you can find some useless keywords and delete it, and keep the hot words. Also you can buy app installs from real users, there are some companies can provide this service.

4. Gain more app reviews and ratings

Like downloads, this is also an important element, there are some researches show that 70% users download an app after see the reviews, the higher rating your app get, the more download you can get. Find your friends and relatives' help to write some positive reviews for you, or find some reliable companies to buy some app reviews from real users.

5. Create attractive app icon and screenshot

This is not useful for search optimization, but it is useful for the conversion rate of download. Beautiful or cool icon absolutely attract more users to download the app, so does the screenshot of your app. So make a well-designed icon and some screenshots.

6. Write good description

This is also not useful for search optimization, but when a user consider if download this app or not, they will have a look at the description of you app, so make the description with an attractive copywriting.

Federico those are some great points!  I will definitely consider that.

The other part of my question is actually speaking to the physical effort of spreading the word. Is it boots on the ground? influences? colleges?

What are some winning formulas to creating a wave of movement?

thank you!
