It depends on the country you are in.  Rather than seeking investment dollars try the friends and family approach or see if there are any grants available to support the development of a MVP.  In either case, be sure to have done your homework on the size of the market first to ensure it's large enough to support building the product.

Isn't the MVP supposed to come before the first outside investor money?  I had a my MVP and tooling ready design first, and bootstrapped myself nearly bankrupt in the process, before I was able to attract serious investors.
