I own a sportswear brand and now in the process of hiring an independent sales rep and a trunk show rep. I will need to draft contracts for both of them. Is there a more economical way to get these contracts done than going with a lawyer?

There are tons of discussions on this already, so I'd suggest doing a search but I'd also personally recommend

We provide a lot of free sales rep compensation agreements here.
I got sued by an independent contractor claiming employment and i created a more secure agreement with some guidelines for independent contractor. Please message me and I can provide to you.

Not going with a lawyer at least for a template agreement is a very bad idea. You can get great lawyers for not that much through and others and then if the contracts don't change much use that as a template.  The risk of using an agreement that doesn't cover you or take into account the needs of your business is high.

Hi Karen,

My company UpCounsel (thanks Jessica for the mention) handles things like this quite frequently. UpCounsel is a marketplace to receive custom quotes from attorneys to do legal work.

You can start with one our free legal template:

Then if you want to customize it, you can post a Job to receive free proposals from attorneys to get your questions answered and/or customize the document for you.

Hope this helps!

The devil is in the details. There are many websites that  offer sales rep's contracts. But you need to ask yourself if the contracts are actually worth anything from a legal standpoint.

You can save few dollars on getting a generic contract but it is going to be a very expensive thing for a start-up if it turns out bad. It's always good to have well-documented employment contracts.

First you must write up terms (expectations, responsibilities, fees & commission structure, sales targets, cause for termination, exclusivity ,etc)

Legal Zoom, Rocket Lawyer, etc., have sales rep contracts you can customize. Might be worth the 1 or 2 hours to have an employment lawyer quickly draft  contract
