I am researching on food and AgTech VCs in NYC and I truly hope that will not come to the disappointing conclusion that VCs are not interested in this universe but only in restaurant delivery platforms.

I'm not sure there are VCs that 100% focus on agtech. The best way to figure out who is interested in it is to look up the companies that have raised money in this space and see who they raised from. For instance, here is Farmeron's crunchbase page crunchbase.com/organization/farmeron. You can see that the location of their investors doesn't matter much, given they are in Ohio. It ranges from NextView in Boston to SoftTech in SF.
There are no VCs that strictly focus on AgTech here in New York. However, Silicon Badia, Launch Capital, and Founder Collective have all made seed stage investments in agtech companies. We (AgFunder) are working with one of the law firms here in NY to set up an AgTech panel in the fall and so we'll probably see who else is looking at the space.
