About April

Since 2007, I have been teaching mathematics either in the classroom [high school + college level] or one-on-one as a tutor. As a teacher and seasoned instructor (teaching experience as an undergrad student, graduate student and now professionally), I have taught large groups of students for several years. Although I enjoy the classroom setting, I thrive in the tutoring environment. I love learning how students learn to help me understand how to individualize teaching for each student. I embarked on this entrepreneurial journey as a result of continually receiving referrals from clients that I didn't have the availability to accept. Instead of turning the referrals away, I desired to seek a way to help them pursue a deeper level of education. During StartUpWeekendEDU, a team and I developed the ground work for Match to Learn (M2L). [ We exist to equip the tutor and empower the student. ] M2L will connect students and tutors based on personality and learning styles in order to improve the quality and increase the success of the educational relationship between student and tutor. As a company, we will prioritize excellent customer service and customization for both the student and the tutor, which is lacking in other online or brick-and-mortar tutoring options. Relationships will be the cultural emphasis for everyone involved, employees, clients, and tutors. Maintaining healthy relationships will allow educational success to be the focus of Match to Learn! http://matchtolearn.com/

Currently I am in the idea/business model planning stage and am seeking someone to help me navigate the next steps. I can serve as the subject matter expert since I have experience and am currently working in this market, therefore this person would need to have business background/education/experience.

Currently looking for:
• Co-Founder with Business background/education
• Someone to develop/navigate technical components (app + website)
