I am a Commercial Property Manager in Boston's Back Bay area. Over the past 4 years I have managed over 150,000 sq. feet of property space, with my largest building being 110,000 sq.ft. I have very strong skills in: budget creation, vendor management, leading a team, contract negotiation/bidding, deal structure and operational management.
I am looking to build a strong team of individuals who are willing to adapt to the ever-changing circumstances in this world. In property management no day is ever the same. There will be new problems and I must adjust accordingly to see the problem resolved. That is the kind of team I would like to build or be apart of. I have come to the conclusion that any idea can thrive, so long as: 1) You don't quit and 2) You adapt to what the changing circumstances are and continue to stick to the vision.
On the side, I am a competitive bodybuilder and I have found that I am able to take the intangibles (consistency, perseverance and inner-peace) gained from that and contribute it to the start-up ecosystem. I am also currently teaching myself HTML/CSS, Java, jQuery, Ruby and Ruby on Rails, this way I can contribute to the tech team and free up their time from small, minuscule tasks.
To end, my aspirations and the ideal candidate for me fall into these two frameworks: I would like to create or be apart of a company with an exit strategy. I think it's easy to get caught up in the big $100M+ acquisitions that we tend to forget about the smaller ones, (ex:$20M+ range). I'd argue that is a good payday, but not pretty by media standards. Therefore, I am more focused on building companies that have a solid exit strategy and that we can run for 4-5 years. I understand that the world isn't static and that time frame can change, this I am open too.
The ideal candidate/partner is someone who possesses the intangibles to know: 1) Don't quit; iterate, adapt, find another way 2) Don't complain; it can always be worse 3) Don't compartmentalize; No one is the same/we all do things differently 4) Be willing to take calculated risks 5) Understand the short and long term goals 6) Be loyal and willing to work tirelessly 7) Speak up for what you believe in 8) Ability to listen and focus intensely on the task(s) at hand.
Rest assured that I will always go the extra mile for you and the team. Once we have a clear vision I am highly motivated and will do whatever it takes to watch us all succeed.
