About Daan

Back in 2003, I graduated with a masters degree in aeronautical engineering and served as a sales professional in tech companies such as CFE and Emerson.
I escaped the "golden cage" of corporate employment, to deciding not to follow my passion for photography, and ending up as a co-founder for tech startup Cloudalize. We raised 3M euro in investment and grew the team from 3 to 15 people in 2 years. After 4 years, I decided to leave Cloudalize to work on new ventures. Currently working on www.magnax.com; new generation of axial flux electric motors and generators for use cases in automotive and energy generation.

June 2013 - October 2016

Joined the Cloudalize founding team to work on customer development, product development, product/market fit, corporate alliances, strategic partnerships, go-to-market planning and execution. Made myself redundant to work on new ventures. Handover to team of sales and marketing specialists for continued future growth. www.cloudalize.com - Developed 3F investors. - Pivot to current business model. - Initiated and built partnership with ecosystem leader Nvidia. - Pre-revenue customer development & product validation. - Attracted management team members. Team grew from 3 to 15 people in 2 years. - Raised +/- 3M Seed. - Setup of marketing systems for demand generation.



November 2016 - Today

Magnax is a Belgian startup team combining unique practical engineering and commercial start-up experience with world-class electric machine research. Magnax is building next-generation electric motors and direct-drive generators based on axial flux technology. We have developed a unique, proprietary variant of axial flux direct drive machines, which can provide a step change in efficiency, size, reliability, manufacturing resource requirement, and cost-effectiveness. The new technology is used for direct-drive generators (ie. wind turbines) and ultra-efficient electric motors (automotive, heavy equipment, aircraft,..) The patented axial flux technology is backed by 6 years R&D ( in collaboration with University Ghent) and 2 years prototyping. www.magnax.com
