About Graham Conroy

I have started up businesses before; software development, and strategy consulting. Both became successful, after the usual pivot phase. Put another way, I have failed and come through.

I have held influential roles in large enterprises, and started and run smaller businesses. I am used to managing people, accounting, finance, product management and sales. But I'm also OK when there is little or none of that to manage yet.

I have a very big idea to grow seaweed in the open sea, and I have put a lot of time into developing the idea, and working out what is needed to make it viable. I got to pitch it to Vinod Khosla (on the basis it was not yet investable). This idea needs a lot more engineering input, though I am on the way to a foundation patent.

I earned a Masters degree in Bioscience Enterprise (essentially, the commercialisation of biotechnology) which was a great grounding in early-stage high-risk businesss.
I have been involved with several startup groups: StartupWeekend Auckland, the Auckland University Spark (now Velocity) competition, Icehouse events, Tangleball, Climathon, programming groups and now Fishackathon.

I am committed to continue developing that business but would be interested in working with the right co-founder on other ideas too.
