About Gustavo

I have decided to leave my high paid job at a huge corporation and follow my passion of creating something on my own and making a greater impact in society.

I should mention my personality and motivations, because though professional experience and skills are very important in candidates, no one can deny that personality type is at least somewhat important in a startup environment. So briefly, I'm an extrovert, I like being surrounded by creative people, sharing ideas and having fun at work. I hate sitting in a cubicle and prefer sitting in an open space, these kind of settings lead to synergies and collaboration. Money does not motivate me, what motivates me is recognition for doing a good job and making an impact on people's lives, either by providing them with a good service or product.

I am a tinkerer, I like to take things apart just to see how they work. I love programming (Java, C, Matlab) and making gadgets with Arduino boards, I am NOT a programmer though. I like Inbound marketing and being engaged in social media. I religiously read Engadget, TechCrunch, AVC, LifeHacker, The Economist, Maker Magazine, etc. I love technology and love when I get to know about new technological advances before everyone else.

I have worked in the two largest Employers in Massachusetts: Raytheon and EMC. Raytheon was my first job out of college and I liked it. I was a systems engineer working on missile defense shit and project management, left the company to pursue an opportunity at ABB, an electrical engineering company in Switzerland, where I was product manager, managing product features and product roadmaps for grid technologies. I'm currently working at EMC as a Sr. Product Marketing Manager, developing marketing strategies for storage servers, product positioning and pricing.

I have co-founded two startups (Hardware and Services), one of them received a first round of funding from a private investor ( I successfully negotiated the term sheet and secured the funding to develop a prototype. SmartHUD was acquired by SenseDriver Technologies.

Now my partners and I are currently working in a new project that is taking off. We are searching for an Industrial Design Engineer to spearhead the ground-up design of an IoT-connected water monitoring hardware device.

The Ideal candidate will be very self-motivated and have:
- Experience with hardware product development and design
- Knowledge of 3D printing and quick prototyping
- Proficiency with Solidworks or equivalent
- Knowledge of manufacturing
- Knowledge of injection molding
- Eye for aesthetics
- Past experience in an a startup

What we have achieved so far (in 9 months):
- Hardware component selection
- Two hardware prototypes built and deployed
- Market analysis and research
- Market / Product Validation
- Traction (pre-sales)

- Currently CEO, two engineers (EE, Computer), large-scale landlord

If you are intrigued by my background or current project do not hesitate to contact me.
