About Joe

13 years of start-up/online experience. The first 5 were spent trying, failing, and trying again. I ended up teaching myself PHP/MySQL and becoming pretty good at SEO during the real estate and mortgage boom. Right as the whole world crashed down on that party, my network of sites was acquired by a lead gen company (primarily doctor directoires) of which I became a partner and the COO of. In two years we revamped the platform, built a stable sales team and grew revenue by 300%. We sold the company to a publicly traded (that has since gone private). I was retained after the sale to oversee the transition and ended up being asked to stick around and help build out the new health vertical as a General Manager.

In that role, I oversaw all aspects of my vertical's operations (operations, development, product, content, sales, community management). In my three and a half years as GM, that 300% growth number appeared again. My team grew from 15 to 60+ and during my tenure I had the opportunity to be on the buy side of over 15 acquisitions.

If a "job" is want I wanted, I had the perfect one. But an entrepreneur at heart I am. A 2011 investment in start-up mobile development company and the challenges and success it faced formed the basis of my latest venture. Earlier this year I said goodbye to my nice, safe, middle management role at billion+ dollar company to devote myself fully to this project.

We're well beyond the seed stage but not quite ready for Series A. We've got a platform, over a hundred clients, and are ready to take the business to the next level over the next 18-24 months to position ourselves for a strong equity investment or potentially acquisition at that point.

I'm looking for a technical co-founder that has knowledge and experience with iOS and Android development and knows his/her away around a LAMP stack. Throw in some product/project management experience and some UI/UX skills....and you'll rocket to the top of the list.

Finally, you'll need to be able to make your way into Downtown Austin most days as I'm tired of working alone all the time.

If you think you can bring the technical skills to the table, possess a crazy strong work ethic, like to have fun, and have strong desire be around "good people" . . . I look forward to hearing from you!
