About Joshua

I've been in the technology sector for about 17 years, mostly focused on the business development side. I've been through a couple of start-ups, including one of my own. In addition to regular business development, I have extensive experience in online content marketing, writing and blogging, and management of social media platforms such as Twitter and Linkedin. I am on cofounders with the hope of leveraging my experience with another start-up at this point. Below is an overview of my skillsets:

* Accomplished Director of Business Development with over a decade of experience building top producing relationships with high-end customers, business partners and stakeholders that increase product awareness, market share and profitability.

* Experience opening up global markets including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the former Soviet Union. Leveraged US Government export-promotion resources such as US Export-Import Bank, US Commercial Service and the State Department to drive international sales. Passionate about exploring and learning new cultures.

* I greatly enjoy writing, and am generally able to produce excellent content. I have experience with content marketing, technology blogging, social media management and drafting press releases.

VT iDirect

February 2001 - August 2017

SALES BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR – iDirect, Inc. 2001 – 2017; Herndon, VA Developed partnerships with distributors to market the iDirect broadband satellite solution in Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union and with large systems integrator partners in the United States. Assisted with research and contract negotiations. Select Accomplishments: • Secured a two-year, $2.4 million contract with Kazakhstan distributor, the first large contract for the organization. • Collaborated with outside sales team to capture multiple large sales clients including Intelsat, British Telecom, and Speedcast, resulting in over a $100 million of closed business with additional recurring annual revenue. • Interviewed and hired a four-person lead generation team to grow the sales pipeline, resulting in a 100% increase over 18 months. • Concepted and executed an equipment donation program benefiting orphanages and schools in Haiti and other developing countries resulting in a formal adoption and implementation of the program by the organization as part of the corporate social responsibility initiative.

MANAGING DIRECTOR – Lucent Technologies 2000 – 2001; Almaty, Kazakhstan Oversaw Kazakhstan operations in a challenging environment of corruption and ever-changing legislation, supervising a staff of 16 professionals in sales, program management, operations, accounting and human resources. Negotiated with senior management of Kazaktelecom, Ministry of Telecommunications and other operators to promote Lucent’s equipment portfolio.

January 1998 - January 2000

Represent the Government of Kazakhstan in a variety of investment dispute resolution cases with foreign investors. Negotiated with government officials to establish investor dispute policies. Prepared settlement agreements with host-country and enterprise officials as well as with counter-party multi-national corporations.
