About Sam

A little bit about the company and me

I am a graduate with advanced degrees in Psychology BSc and Law LLB, and an aspiring entrepreneur. I have also worked as a consultant for several recruitment firms. Currently, I am developing a start-up company, which focuses on developing advanced graduate recruitment software. This software will take the form of a website that will allow companies to contact/hire graduates directly from the website or allow recruitment agencies to use the software to find the relevant graduates.

How far along are we?

We have recently completed an 8-week incubator programme in London, recruited experts in: company, data protection and intellectual property law; business, economics and marketing. Furthermore, we have also recruited a number of clients from the legal and financial sector.

What we are aspiring for?

Our company is aspiring to be the main recruitment software, for which other companies use to identify and recruit graduates. How much commercial potential does this have? Well given the current political and economic climate, our financial expert has predicted that there is a massive opportunity for large commercial gain.

Why are we targeting this market?

There is a mixture of political and economic reasons for targeting this area. Politically, world powers, particularly the UK, are producing a number of government initiatives to encourage companies to hire young people in an attempt to solve youth unemployment, which is the worst it has been since 1992 in the UK.

The recruitment industry has surged back past its pre-recession peak, with total annual revenues hitting £28.7bn. Almost a third of (30%) of all Google searches, about 300 million per month, are employment related. The UK Times Top 100 increased increasing their graduate opportunities by 7.9% in 2014 and a further 8.1% in 2015. Two-thirds of employers provide paid vacation internships for penultimate year students and over half offer industrial placements for undergraduates

Yet despite a record number of people graduating university over the past few years, there remained over 7000 graduate positions in London alone being left unfilled.

Why?

The answer is simple, the majority of companies find it difficult to access graduates with the precise skills set that they need. This is where we come in; we can provide a solution to this and become the sole recruitment source for companies who need to hire young graduates.

What we are looking for from the ideal candidate?

Ideally, we are looking for someone who is capable of programming a website and decent understanding/knowledge of servers to develop the website. However we would still be willing to hire a co-founder who is less skilled in terms of servers but still capable of designing a prototype of the website/software. With regards to working hours, these hours can be negotiated to fit around any other commitments you have.
