About Adam

I am a technology entrepreneur. I have 23 years experience in IT both in the UK and USA, with 14 of those as a software developer on multiple platforms. 7 years ago I started a one man computer repair company from scratch from my bedroom in Wokingham, Berks. I now operate from an office in the town centre. I have 560 business and residential customers. Revenues have increased by an average of 20% every year, except this year which has seen a 50% increase.

The shrinking of IT devices and the ubiquity of SaaS have convinced me that my current business model, while currently viable will see growth opportunities diminish. Business customers are dumping their servers for Office365 etc. Residential customers are dumping their Windows devices for Android and iOS. Last week my hairdresser told me that she never uses her laptop any more, but uses her phone instead.

As a consequence of these signs of major changes to the marketplace in which I operate, last year I decided that I need to move my business activities away from hardware support and concentrate on the future growth opportunities of mobile development. I taught myself iOS programming with Objective-C. My first app went on sale in the Apple app store on November 1st. I have examined various ways of moving forward and the most viable is to sell my current business and join another startup as a founder or technical executive. I believe that this is the best way I can utillize both my technical ability and experience as an entrepreneur.
