About Peter

I'm an experienced professional in Business Intelligence and in Operations Management with a successful track record of launching and taking a startup to exit. Co-founded comixology.com, the leading distributor of digital comic books. Our app 'Comics' was the highest-grossing non-game iPad app in 2012 and 2013. The company was acquired by Amazon in April 2014.

My recent business experience includes data warehouse development, data analysis, front- and back-end BI development, and bootstrap ETL. I have extensive experience with Amazon Redshift; MySQL; and MS SQL Server. I'm comfortable working in Python and the Linux shell. I've done a good deal of financial modelling and have done quite a bit of operations management, leading teams of up to ~40 people.

My startup experience includes developing a successful business plan, presenting to investors, and raising the cash to get a company off the ground. Comixology was originally conceived of for the NYU Stern business plan competition, which we won in 2007 (under the official company name, Iconology - see http://www.stern.nyu.edu/experience-stern/about/departments-centers-initiatives/centers-of-research/berkley-center/programs/venture-competitions/past-winners/2006-2007) when I was finishing my MBA.

Now I'm looking for the next interesting opportunity. I am not the idea guy; I am the business operations guy. Most interesting to me will be an individual or small team that has a great idea for a product and some of the skills necessary to produce it, but who are looking for someone with business skills and experience with fundraising and operations. I'd be most interested in a product that has the potential to be a game-changer in the digital media/social/mobile space, though whether that is a consumer-facing product or something back-end and B2B is wide open.
