About Romain

As a technology enthusiast, I am specialized since 2004 in entrepreneurship, research, conception and development of innovative applications in mobile & ubiquitous apps. In my PhD (2005-2009), I defined a set of middleware solutions dedicated to ubiquitous multi-user interactive applications engineering.

In 2015, I founded my second company named Slyseed offering consulting and software development services in the field of Cloud Computing, Mobile Computing and Internet of Things.

Between 2015 Q4 to 2017 Q1 , I joined Medici as a former CTO and lead the development of a disruptive real time communication app in the field of Healthcare. We worked on making Healthcare relatable, empowering and inventive. I initiated, built the entire Cloud, Continuous Integration, Web and Mobile platforms of Medici and built a Tech division involving more than 21 engineers, testers and designers and achieved a successful launch of Medici apps in the context of SXSW 2017.

In 2008, I founded Ubidreams, a company specialized in crossplatform mobile applications developing for B2B customers. After 5 years of numerous industrial & research projects, Ubidreams launched in 2013 Nanoko an industrial HTML5/JavaScript open source framework enabling to build modular applications, that can be deployed on all mobile devices as native apps. Nanoko has won the “2013 Most Innovative Project” award delivered by OW2 consortium, that federate European industrial & open source IT solutions. In 2014, Ubidreams launched the Wisdom framework, an open source Java web server based on the same concepts of dynamism and modularity as Nanoko does on it side for front-end apps.

Work Experience

CTO

Medici

October 2015 - April 2017

For 1.5 years, I personally initiated and built the entire Cloud platform, Continuous Integration system and Cross-Platform Web, Android and iOS applications of Medici Technologies, LLC and lead the Medici Tech division. Medici is a realtime communication application (text, audio, video conferences) for Patients and Doctors enhanced by Healthcare dedicated tools like e-prescription, insurance eligibility, etc. Clinton Phillips, Medici's CEO, refers to his startup as the WhatsApp of Health Care and plan to be as global as WhatsApp in a near future. The press announced that Medici raised $24M in 2016. Here a succinct list of my personal duties, contributions and achievements: - built and recruited a tech team of 21 engineers and beyond without any assistance of an HR service, - managed this Tech team during 1.5 years, - built and contributed to manage the Medici France entity, - built a perennial and scalable technical platform (tools, cloud, server and mobile frameworks) - initiated research and development projects for mid and long term technology and platform innovation, - implemented project and team management AGILE processes , - successfully launched Medici product at the SXSW 2017 event in Austin TX USA, - networked and brought investors, partners and candidates to the company, - actively contributed to both the business, strategy, marketing, design, tooling and innovation efforts within Medici CxO team, - etc. I believe I put Medici on the perfect rails for scaling its business internationally in the future and wish them the best!
