About Sébastien

I have 15 years experience in e-commerce, spanning from product management to marketing and strategy. I started a small project 5 years ago that I had to put on hold. Following my time at eBay, I had envisioned a product that would help Small Medium Businesses (SMBs) cut their support costs and improve their customer satisfaction by providing them the tools & intelligence that big companies like eBay have developed to power their help & support systems. At that time, I created a very early & basic MVP after investing a small amount to get the design & development done. I had gone as far as doing a small User Research and creating V2 specs. That's where I left things. Other projects took my attention away from this one. But I feel that it's time to get back to it and make it a reality. I still strongly believe in the product vision and market opportunity.
However I'm not a developer and I'm not a designer. Those are 2 skill sets that I need to execute on my vision and bring this product to life. I don't want to buy those skills, I'm looking for somebody passionate and excited at the idea of creating a product that will help hundreds/thousands of SMBs do a better job at supporting their customers. The heart of the product will be 2 fold: powerful & smart tools that are extremely easy to use for SMBs and a best-in-class font-end experience for the SMBs customers. It's a tricky combination but that's where the product will create value. The business model is a traditional tiered subscription model.
At this stage, this project will remain a side project for me and I'll keep my day job. And I don't expect it to be any different for my cofounder. But I do expect to be able to throw in up to 10 hours per week into the project, as well as some level of cash to fuel the project needs. I think that a very skilled backend developer, with some good level of front-end experience, is my priority. The tools engine that will power the product is the key. The design layer can come in a second step. But I'm open to having 2 cofounders from the start.
