After graduating with a degree in history and classics from Surrey University I joined the British Army and attended RMAS. I served a further six years as an Infantry Officer in numerous countries.

The next five years were spent in security risk management as an Operations Director and winning new business from a variety of companies around the world.

I began a career in private wealth and investment management 2007, and quickly progressed to lead a team of experienced private bankers. After a working in three banks I left The City in 2014 to focus on Getonatop Ltd. (

Concluded a commission with The Devonshire and Dorset Regiment (Armoured Infantry (BFG) and Light Role (UK)) as Captain. Responsibilities and Achievements: • Given early command of a 110-man sub-unit during pre-deployment training for operational tour of South Armagh. Under my leadership this Rifle Company won the Battalion’s ‘Champion Company’ title. • Various Armoured Infantry courses (1996-8); Pegasus Company (1999), in prep for 16 Bde staff job (not pursued); Selection (2000), failed on Officers’ Week; JWIC (2000) ‘Instructor Recommendation’ pass, designed and ran training packages in Belize and Kenya. • Recruit training instructor, ITC Catterick (1998-9), ‘Champion Platoon’ (11/12 competition tests won, 2nd place in Drill), subsequently made responsible for re-training and turnaround of difficult cases. • Top 5% of cadets on Commissioning Course 951 RMAS (according to Commandant); highly graded in all OCRs. • Operations: South Fermanagh, South Armagh. Aegis (2005 – 2007): Aegis was one of the most successful Private Security Company of its time; a market leader in at least one sector of the private security company sector and a business enabler in both stable and hostile environments. Responsibilities and Achievements: • One of only three head office Senior Operations Managers. • Responsible for full project leadership on both new and mature operations on domestic and foreign private sector contracts. • New business development and sales; identified potential clients from a broad range of industries; initiated contact and built strong relationships. Negotiated, secured and implemented contract extensions. • Averaged five months per annum deployed in project leader (including business development) and stand-in team leader roles, and on lone risk consultancy taskings. • Deployments (applicable for Aegis and Rubicon (below)): Ghana/Cote d’Ivoire evacuation, Iraq (x9), Jordan (numerous), Kuwait (before and throughout second gulf war, numerous after), UAE (numerous), Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Pakistan (country wide), Nepal (x3), Singapore (x2), Malaysia. Rubicon (2002 – 2005): Rubicon was a boutique private security company set up in 1998, with a loyal private and corporate client base. In 2002 Rubicon’s revenue was less than £0.4m pa. I joined as an assistant Operations Manager and was made Operations Manager in late 2002, then Director in summer 2003. In the last 2.5 years of trading, leading up to sale of the business to Aegis Defence Services in October 2005, annual revenues rose to over £2.8m. Responsibilities and Achievements: • Responsible for domestic and foreign project start-ups and business development, and management of client relationships also in UK and abroad in (often) non-permissive and stressful environments, resulting in close and trusted business relationships. • Numerous one-off domestic and repeat foreign lone consultancy and team deployments. • Personally identified and secured new contracts to ensure year on year growth in a competitive market; response for tendering proposals and presenting to both existing and prospective clients. • Rapid promotion from Assistant Operations Manager to Operations Director with executive functions. Involved in strategic planning and goal setting.
