About Vincenzo

Scientist by training, entrepreneur by vocation, I am currently a Strategic Adviser in Innovation, Technology and Lean Entrepreneurship.

I am also professor of IT, Project and Operation Management and Entrepreneurship in several higher-education institutions in Switzerland.

Active in Information and Communication Technology since 1985. Started as an Analyst and Enterprise Software developer at IBM and Apple systems agents, after six years I came back to study and earned a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Computer and Information Science.

I started a research career in Computer Science where I have explored both theoretical and applied fields such as Computational Logics and Artificial Intelligence, Information Retrieval, Business Intelligence, Data Mining, Computational Linguistics, Human-Computer Interaction, Web, Multimedia and Ubiquitous Computing. I these areas I have published 70+ articles and several chapters in textbooks and edited collections. I am also the author of 4 books.

In education, I started very early in 1987 in technical instructor. At university level, I have been teaching courses in Computing, Information Systems and Project Management. I have been also invited as guest lecturer for tutorials in international conferences.

As an entrepreneur, I succeeded in leveraging my research results into an innovative product in the area of Customer Interaction Analytics. I am always searching for new business opportunities and challenges aimed at solving relevant problems. With my backgrounds and experience I can help startups in their research for a viable and scalable Business Model serving as a coach at Startup Weekend.

I am active in the civil society contributing with local initiative to the development of policies for the information society. Namely, I am the co-founder of ThinkServices.ch think tank and I was a co-founder and former Chairman of the Switzerland chapter of the Internet Society (www.isoc.ch) and co-organizer of the Trade School in Geneva.
