About Zachary

I am a recent mechanical engineering graduate from the University of California, Irvine. During my undergrad, I participated in and led engineering projects. It is here that I shared failures and successes, but ultimately gained experience in bringing ideas to life. My goal is to help put substantive, committed ideas into play.

Work Experience

Team Captain

Formula SAE

April 2014 - June 2016

Led a team of 35 student engineers through the designing, manufacturing, testing, and competing of UC Irvine's 2016 FSAE racecar in the Formula SAE West competition. The team set a school-best with its top 20 finish in the acceleration and presentation events.

Student Researcher

Rockwell Collins Inc.

October 2015 - March 2016

Designed a test apparatus with a team of 5, which used a load cell to measure clamping force in bolted joints where #2-#10 machine screws with blind and through holes are used. The apparatus was then used to research the effects of different bolt materials, finishes, and geometries on clamping force. This research was then analyzed and compiled into a report. The results from this project are being used by engineers to improve the reliability and safety of bolted aerospace joints.
