Any advice on selling my ebook online?

Hi all,

Quick side project question: I\'m looking for some recommendations on how to
set up the business infrastructure to sell my ebook.

Here\'s where I am today:

- I am only selling one ebook (pdf format). No other products, so the
system just has to be as simple as possible, and automated.
- I currently have traffic from my existing blog. I have no plan to make
any change to that given current traffic and ranking on google.
- I will add 1 page that links from the existing blog to the ebook
website.

Here\'s where I need to go:

- Standard stuff: Web hosting/domain name/web design/building to create
the ebook website
- I will have 1 page selling the book (a very simple page, 1 picture and
text) and 1 cart button
- I want to take payments in my Paypal account.
- Looking at the systems available, I am thinking of e-junkie to host
the file as well as manage the payment, and the download, but I am unclear
about what web hosting and building service would integrate very easily
with e-junkie.

Any suggestions on how to do this from the group, or in general on this
process I outlined above would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks all,
Kevin

Hey Kevin,

Here\'s what Sacha Greif had to say about a similar topic a few weeks ago:

Haven\'t used it myself, but this company helps publish ebooks, and it
sounds like they help with distribution of your ebook as well as metrics.

You should check out Bookbaby.com as well. They help indie publishers
publish their own books and convert those formats to work with the major
e-eaders.

In terms of offering your book on your own site, I\'d check out how Hubspot
does it. They usually require you to fill out a form and then give away a
free book (which are actually pretty insightful). If nothing else this
could help you build an email marketing database for your blog or future
books.

Hey Kevin,

A question, why don\'t you convert it into epub and sell it on
Amazon/B&N/iBooks/etc..? There\'re many free tools you could use to do that.

As for marketing with your blog, my startup has a widget that you could use
to automatically link your posts to relevant excerpts within your book (see
my blog post as an example:

Hi,

Check out what this guy did (a simple shopping service to sell his
book/services). By the way, excellent book about user experience/design
topics which I purchased and has been worth every penny.
