Anyone have experience with this fund?

Hey everyone!

I applied to Kima Ventures for seed funding for my EdTech startup. They received my application and contacted me. Now, I'm awaiting another message from the team.

In the meantime, I'm wondering if any of you here know or have worked with them before? If you have, maybe you could share a bit about your experience?

Thanks in advance!

There's an excellent discussion about Kima on Hacker News. The first comment has some very useful insight about the strings attached - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=6847867

I haven't worked with them, but I have been hearing good things from other investors. I personally don't like the forced valuation ($150K for 15%), so it's not a good fit for my company. Their big claim to fame is quick decisions, they say they will turn around an answer within 15 days.

@Cynthia Schames: Yeah, the forced valuation is somewhat scary, but I guess it really depends on your company, needs, and that you understand the trade-offs.

Definitely agree! If you're really early stage and you're sure the $150k can prove your hypothesis, it's a potential home run. The early valuation is meaningless if the money takes you to traction.
