Anyone know how to install Moodle or have an LMS they really like?

Hey everyone,

I am trying to find a very easy LMS that I can use to load in the curriculum that I have created. I started to download Moodle but I am not sure how to do some of the complicated actions associated with it. Does anyone know where I can find good tools that will help with this OR does anyone like another open source and robust learning management system.

I'm out of the office from July 1-8. I will not have email or voicemail access during that time, and will get back to you as soon as I return. Thanks, hansmeet.

"Downloading Moodle" will not likely help you in any way as it's software package that lives on a web server and isn't something you can point your mouse at and set up.

I'm not the last answer on this, but AFAIK Moodle is the go-to platform for FOSS (free open source) learning management systems.

There are commercial options.  Possibly what you need is a person who can help you decide how to spend your money - FOSS software isn't "free" if you need to hire someone to work on it for you.  Possibly your investment going forward is not in software, but in assistance figuring out how to deliver what direction makes the most sense for you.

I recommend that you consider using a hosted Moodle solution. I just googled "Hosted Moodle" and found Key To School Moodle Hosting company. Their prices start $50 per year for 100 Moodle users. Also, the following recent presentation on LMS might help you decide which LMS to choose:

Hi Helen, My business partner built a very innovative LMS that is fully compliant with SCORM, etc. The software is mass-customizable, and we own the code 100%. LAMP based. Please send me a PM or an email if you want to chat and see if its a fit for what you're doing. Cheers, Juston
