Start a challenge! (Like the ice bucket challenge)

Maybe something photo/video related in your case.

It is difficult to replicate the success of the Ice Bucket Challenge. But here are some fundamental principles how your challenge should be:

Doable. Consider the Harlem Shake craze, and how easy it was for any group of people to recreate it within minutes. The easier it is to do, the likelier it is that people will do it.

Highly social. Being able to nominate your friends turns a one-off challenge into a conversation starter and a spectator sport.

Flattering to your participants. People want to look good, whether they’re influential bloggers or a bunch of teenagers bored in the summer.

Your Challenge should allow them to perform honorabily by ‘stepping up’ to the plate. At the same time, you got to look important for being a nominee in the first place.

Most importantly, you wouldn't want to look like a self-important attention seeker because you were just responding to a challenge.

If you don't want in, there should be an elegant way to get out!

The campaign flattered participants by demonstrating that they were brave, and participants wouldn't feel insecure if everyone did it together.

In your case maybe try :

  1. Find a creative use for the app. Let them feel good about them-self (ex:
  • Help somebody in need (carry groceries for an old lady, help a disabled person cross the street)
Show admiration on camera for your Hero
Challenge your friends to be a hero within 24hrs or donate $50 to X Cause

Hi there, I suggest your boost your app ranking in the app stores to acuqire new user base, and it's also the best way to get new users. The reason is that over 65% users discover new apps by browsing and searching on the app stores, and most of them just browsing the top 10 apps. You can boost your app ranking in the app stores with the following methods:

  • Target keywords with low competition and lower search volumes first - After gaining the initial momentum, start using keywords with higher traffic and reasonable difficulty. The precondition is that the keywords must be related to your app.
  • Choose the low competition and relevant categories.
  • Use Keywords in the Name and Description - Data shows that adding keywords in title will increase your app ranking by 10.3%.
  • Buy app keyword search installs - which can boost app ranking in 8~10 hours, I would highly recommend you take advantage of it.
  • Get Positive Reviews - Reviews also play an important part in app store ranking algroithm, what's more, 95% users will take the app reviews as one of the most important reference factors to judge the app, and most people prefer to download an app which has much more positive reviews.
  • Update your App Regularly. Updating app can increase app ranking temporarily.

Besides boosting app ranking in the app store, you can also cooperate with influencers, because most people like to follow others and be influenced by the words of some celebrities or well-known business people - having high-profile Facebook pages with 100,000+Likes mentioning your app is a huge win. Reach out to organizations whose goals align with yours, and give them a compelling reason to mention or link to your app on their page.

Hope these methods are useful to you.

9 Powerful Strategies to Boost Mobile App Downloads

You’ve finally built your own app. You love your design, your app icon, and it works flawlessly on every device you tested it on. The niche you found is unexplored and competition-free. If that’s the case, you’ve run into the same problem many developers encounter after they publish their apps. But don’t be discouraged – if you have an app you want the whole world to use, you can make it happen. All it takes is a little effort and the right know-how to bring your app to the attention of the masses. So, to learn the best ways to boost your mobile app downloads, let’s first understand how apps are downloaded in the first place. The two are very similar in relation to your app’s success, but ASO has even greater impact on its listing than SEO does for Google search results. ASO is specifically what increases the visibility of your app in the marketplace. The higher its rank, the more users will find your app when they search. And once a user finds your app, ASO also helps determine whether they actually download it. There are quite a few factors that affect your ASO:

  1. Positive reviews: The more positive App reviews has, the higher its rating will be. When users rank an app highly, it will also be ranked highly, which naturally improves downloads.
  2. App downloads: The more downloads you have, the more downloads you’ll get. App publishers should aim for a steady amount of downloads to rank highly.
  3. Keyword relevance: Apps with popular keywords in their title and description may see more downloads.
  4. Revenue: Apps with a good record of revenue generation will get more visibility from the app store.
  5. Country: Regional success can influence your ranking in that region. Boosting your ranking in multiple regions can have a snowball effect.
  6. Backlinks: If you can include backlinks to many relevant pages, you can improve your app ranking.
  7. Social proof: Your app’s popularity across social media platforms can affect its app store ranking – especially on Android. Shares and +1’s on Google+ can determine whether users notice your app or ignore it.
  8. App starts: The number of times users actually open your app also has a significant impact on ranking.
  9. Retention: The number of people who uninstall your app vs. the amount who keep it

within 30 days also affects rankings. To ensure retention, cater heavily toward your target audience in the app description.
