How to approach Angel Investors for first meeting even without traction?

Would like to know if any one of you have tried cold calling and managed to get first meeting with Angel Investors even without traction?

I have. I've closed over $200k a few times with no traction and no track record. The name of the game is building relationships. The market has become very competitive and you're competing with companies that have traction, are working hard, and have been in the game longer than you. That said, if your concept is strong, your team is strong, and you build strong relationships, getting a moderate amount of angel money is possible.


Cold calling is never going to work close money, though. You might get a meeting that way. Better, go to places where there are a lot of angel investors and start talking to them. Ask them questions. Ask for feedback about your company. Ask if you can have lunch with them to get more info. The only way you're going to close with no traction is is the investor believes in you, personally.
