There is no easy or simple answer to your question. Online marketing has a lot of facets and moving pieces. For example, implementing an SEO strategy, pay-per-click (PPC), email marketing, social media, and many other options.

For starters, we would need more information such as:

  • What is your product?
  • Who is your target audience?
  • How does that audience make buying decisions? (web traffic may not be what you need)
  • What's your budget?
  • What have you done so far?

There are a lot of great resources out there to help guide you as well Moz, Search Engine Land, Neil Patel for starters.

If you are looking at generate quick website traffic then you will have to do paid campaigns specifically to generate more traffic.

But a more steady and long term way to generate steady traffic is to go with SEO. Where you can submit you sitemap to google and other search engines on a regular basis as per the chance on your website. Go more social and it should work better for your in eventually.

Hope this helps.

You should advertise about your website, make use of autorun/on-click tricks on most commonly visited sites like songs download, shopping etc.

@Alagari and @Michael - I agree. PPC is probably the quickest option but a lot depends on his budget. Also, a successful PPC campaign requires additional onsite strategies to capture user info for other marketing strategies (retargeting, email, etc). SEO is the long range play as are email marketing and to some extent social.

@Steve - PPC is not a waste of money if the campaign is developed and managed correctly. It is a very successful strategy even for small businesses. But it is not something to take lightly because as you mention it can cost a lot of money if not properly managed.

Stumbled upon this article explaining the difference between SEO and PPC from Can I Rank. It has some good information. As several others have said PPC is your quickest solution. SEO is your best long term solution.

@Steve - I don't see PPC as wasting money. There is a lot of value in using PPC. It is a complex process that requires a lot of attention and the use of solid strategies and techniques on the site so visitors are converting and not bouncing.

Advertising is immediate. SEO, backlinks and click through ratios takes time to rank your page on search engines.

So I'd say increasing you web traffic in no time would be fairly hard unless a social outlet with a following picked you up for an article or post, but even those are paid for most of the time.

Waste a lot of money on PPC.

If you have time, there are other ways to increase traffic.

@Michael - I agree, but if you have no time, not sure you will have any choice other than to waste money.
