IOT device/M2M gateway for Water Purifiers what is the relevance of this in developed countries?

Our IoT Enabled Water Purifier Sensor and M2M Gateway is currently installed in a product of a leading water purifier company. It is helping our customer to detect the output problem in the quality of water before the customer( home & industrial) finds it tasteless/non potable. Thus our customer sends the servicemen to the location before the customer raises the trouble ticket. This ensures customer delight, loyalty and sales.

In India as quality of water in most places is non potable this IOT/M2M solution is very relevant. But since developed countries have a decent potable water supply from various utilities, what would be its relevance and need in developed countries. I believe some places in developed countries still would need it.

Do suggest if anybody disagrees or feels otherwise

The short answer: it's a very big market.  

In the U.S., households often want "even cleaner" water.  Look at the bottled water market (which is wasteful but huge), the home purifier market (like Brita), and the residential softener market (like Culligan) where systems cost a few thousand dollars.    

The bigger or more addressable market might be in industry: power, mining, agribusiness etc.  They have a hard business case for either purifying waste-water or for increasing quality/decreasing cost of available water for crops.  

Climate change is tragically accelerating the need for investment in infrastructure related to water.  

You'll need to dig more, and start talking with prospective customers/channel partners to get a real strategy in place, but hopefully this helps you along.
