How is the Kitchenware Retailing Space in the US ? It happens to be one of the most unorganised categories in India. We have worked on an omni channel retailing model for the same with already paying customers. Does any similar model exist in the US ?
In the US, kitchenware is carried by some specialty omni-channel retailers like Williams-Sonoma and Sur la Table, as well as commercial cookware providers. But probably the largest total volume goes through general merchandise retailers like Target, Fred Meyer, Macy's, Amazon, etc.
Thanks Mike! But with Indian laws not permitting foreign players to set up offline stores and also the fact that all these players are generalists and want to become 'Everything for Everyone' without targeting a particular niche, don't you think my idea of opening a chain of kitchenware specific retail outlets in a country with 1.3 billion people where the physical distribution channels are really weak would definitely be sustainable yet scalable ? I am expecting my first outlet to be up and running in the next 15 days under a franchised model. Your thoughts/feedback would be welcome.
