Looking for suggestions on how to find business/marketing person who can share equity & vision.

I have successfully (small scale ) developed and proven a product over 30 years. I no longer feel capable of leading the business into the next evolution. I have a team of young people on board who are experts with facilitating the product, but they are waiting for direction and purpose and don't feel I can lead the business and marketing for the next generation. My attempts at finding someone or two people within our product's community have been weak and not productive. My attempts at hiring outside professionals have been expensive and lack integrity mostly because I don't know how to hire. Now I am shy about paying for the level of professionalism I want to see because they have missed the mark. Recently we have recreated the product to be available world wide, unrestricted by time and place. I continue to upgrade, but feel that my limitations are cumbersome for the potential growth.
Growth-hacking isn’t about quick wins and shortcuts, although they exist. In this course, we’ll cover the six-step growth hacking framework, how to measure user retention for your business, how to increase engagement and retention, and a bunch of case studies.

You are saying a lot of different things and appear to have quite a few concerns. You probably should sit down with a mentor/coach or Board Advisor and talk through these issues.

Hi,

I can give you a free consultation, I like helping people out.

I can consult with you on the type of person you should hire, how to find this person and how much you should pay him/her. We can work with a headhunter to do this or do it ourselves. I can even interview people for you if needed.

Julianaa,
Youre not alone.  I see this often.  My two cents: Learn It yourself OR hire a college student to intern and at least give you a viable cutting edge starting point.  There are BOATLOADS of free resources to teach you this with the sacrifice of some time each day.  Let me know if you would like some help.  The resources I'm referring to are free and so is my help.  :)

Cheers,

Hi Julianaa,

So sorry to hear you are feeling overwhelmed. As someone else said, you are not alone. I know lots of people who feel the same as you do but lack the courage to put it out there so bluntly. Well done!!

I agree, finding a good mentor/coach is a good first step. I really love my coach as she has the right balance combine practical business sense while understanding the emotional components that make you the person you are in your core. Her name is Madeline and you can find her here:

I wish you luck on your journey and I am sending positive vibes your way.

Cheers!

It all starts with a clear brand vision.

If this is then communicated effectively it will have the power to excite your team once more and help to define the type of person you should hire. The result will be everyone moving in the same direction once more.

Hi Julianaa,

What you describe is the weakness of most businesses. Lack of knowledge is also an important factor.
I believe the most important thing for business owners is to find partners to be able to communicate and find a common ground for discussions and ideas.

Now as for the marketing and business development, you need to find experts and add them to your team.
From what I undertand you do not have the knowledge to test their experience. There a lot of companies doing such things globaly.

You also mentioned that your product is for the global market. My advice is to make a market research and find the best countries for your product so as to keep the budget low and make tests. It is very difficult to go global from the beginning.

If you need any help for marketing/digital marketing this is my field. I can advice you how to make a digital marketing plan (what channels to use) according to your objectives, budgeting, measurement (kpi's) etc.
I believe that the most important thing for you is marketing so as to find out where to promote your product.
Marketing uses the same techniques what changes is the product.

I can advice you where to start from and go step by step. This is free of charge.

Julianaa,
Congrats!  You've acknowledged your weakness and are searching for a solution... I meet so many founders that either because of sheer ego or complete lack of self-awareness, fail to see the handwriting, before it's too late.

Reach out to stakeholders in your industry and ask for their recommendations. Be prepared to send them a compelling executive summary. If you don't have access to those people, a little focus and due diligence could go a long way. Think, industry associations, trade publications and trade shows.

BTW; in looking for leaders to take a startup or growing business to a new level, on internet-age time, don't only focus on her or his ability to lead. The individual's track record of growing businesses in your space and raising capital should be of equal importance.

Leap away!

Thank you everyone for great advice. I appreciate  and have been overwhelmed with the generosity on this founder dating opportunity.

I am in the process of defining the next business goal - and always trying to find the best way to communicate our market position.

It seems that our school needs a board of advisors.  Not that I have ever put one of those together I welcome your thoughts.
